Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Hello, and welcome to my site. Thank you for your interest in learning more about me and my campaign. You may wonder why I am running for state representative, in fact, why any sane person would want to be in politics these days. A fair question. The short answer is that people need help, and in our democracy, politics is an important way for us to help make things better now and in the future.
I see many in our community who are struggling. Trying to cope with high (and ever rising) prices for everything from gas to food to health care. Concerned about the future of their own jobs and whether there will be any jobs for their children. Frustrated with the sense that things in government are stuck in a deadlock. I believe that I can bring energy, enthusiasm, and experience to help move things in a better direction for our community. I promise you that I will bring all my best efforts to work full time in Hartford and here at home for you and your family.
We are facing serious challenges as a state, but more effort seems to be going into assigning blame for the mess we are in, rather than working on solving problems. As a mother of three children, I think of it like a broken lamp - we can spend a lot of time pointing fingers at who was responsible for the ball that knocked the lamp over, or we can fix the lamp and make sure it doesn't break again. I believe we need a fresh perspective in the legislature. We need to try some new approaches. We need people prepared to work hard to find common ground to get things done. We cannot and should not let "standing on principle" become an excuse for doing nothing. "We've always done it this way," is no reason to continue doing things that don't work.
I am optimistic about the opportunities for our state and our three communities. Although I hear a lot of frustration and concern from people as I go door-to-door, I also hear similar optimism about what things could be like. The people of Cheshire, Hamden, and Wallingford share the same fundamental concerns - we want a good life for ourselves, and a better life for our children. I hope to have the opportunity to work with you for what we all hold dear.
